This educational garden facility represents Edgewood’s first ‘green’ project and “embodies a ‘seed-to-table’ philosophy with Edgewood’s multi-generational population gathering around one table.” The facility is comprised of a new prefabricated structure by Modern Cabana, a local manufacturer, to be used as a garden classroom, a new custom greenhouse, an outdoor kitchenette to educate children on nutrition and healthy food preparation, an amphitheater to house additional educational programs, a new lawn area to promote an active lifestyle
To meet the City of San Francisco and Edgewood’s environmental goals and educate the youth on the importance of sustainability, the project features solar energy generation, water efficient landscaping, energy efficient fixtures, and locally sourced, renewable products and materials throughout.
This project was designed and built as part of Rebuilding Together San Francisco's community revitalization program.
